Wimer Music Studio teachers piano, guitar, bass, saxophone, and voice lessons.
Anybody can take lessons, from the very young to the very old.
There are many reasons to take lessons from an experienced teacher. While it is possible to learn an instrument on your own, nothing can take the place of actual hands-on teaching. Without this, you cannot get corrections to mistakes, learn correct technique, develop a true sense of theory, etc.
This depends on many factors: your instrument, your background, how quickly you apply new information, etc. If you desire to be a music performer, and are starting from scratch, it will take years to master your instrument. On the other hand, if you are looking to only learn “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” this can be accomplished in perhaps a single lesson. Generally, you will begin to notice improvement in a few lessons, as long as you practice every day.
To play instruments sucessfully, you do need to have your own to practice at home. You can borrow from a friend, rent (we do not have rentals at this time) from a local store, etc. For piano students, a keyboard will be sufficient for a beginner (as long as the piano keys are the standard size), but having an actual piano to play at home for intermediate and especially advanced students is suggested.
$20 per half-hour lesson and $40 per hour-lesson.
For beginners and intermediates, generally a half-hour. For the more advanced students, an hour may be required to give adequate instruction.
It is suggested you take lessons every week. Just like practicing is necessary every day, lessons are necessary to receive new material, get help, understand mistakes, etc.
Bills will be written out at the end of the month, with payment being due at the next lesson. Special arrangements can be made for those wishing to pay differently. This will be discussed further at your first lesson.
Lessons can be canceled for any reason if given 24-hour prior notice. In this case, a make-up lesson can be set up before your next scheduled lesson. Special circumstances such as sickness, emergencies, or vacations will be handled on a one-on-one basis.
Unless given a 24-hour prior notice, you must pay for the instructor’s time that he has set aside for you.
Generally, lessons start at five or six years old, about the time the student begins kindergarten or first grade. This is helpful for a few different reasons. Attention spans are short when children are very young. Half-hour lessons may be too much for children younger than five or six. To learn music and retain the information, children must have a basic understanding of their ABC’s and 123’s.
At Wimer Music Studio, we believe there is no "too old" to discover your gift. For many reasons, people put aside learning or continuing their learning. We understand, and encourage people of all ages to discover their gift.
By all means, yes. One of the most fantastic things about learning music is getting to play the songs you love. If you are interested in classical, jazz, Disney, punk, etc. etc., we will take time to teach you what you want to learn.
In the interest of keeping lesson fees minimal, we do not charge enough to cover the purchase of books. We will be more than happy to find books for you, but they will be charged to your next month’s lesson fees.
We are a full year studio. While we tend to follow the typical public school year's schedule, we do continue during the summer. As always, we work with your schedule to give you the lessons and teaching you desire. If you need some time off for vacation or a day off, we will work with your schedule to meet your needs.
